1. What did you think of this narrative?
I thought it was really interesting how she was taught words. Its hard to believe that people don't realize that words go wtih objects naturally.
2. What was most interesting or engaging about it?
how it took her awhile to realize that w-a-t-e-r meant the cold misty feeling she felt running her hand under water
3. What surprised you?
That her teacher was so patient with her because I would have a hard time staying calm and not yelling.
4. Did this change your outlook on Helen Keller at all? Why or why not?
This did not change my outlook on Helen Keller. I knew she had faced many hardships with her disabilities and this passage just made it even more clear how hard life was for her.
5. Copy and paste three examples of vivid detail and imagery that helped enhance the story
1.As the cool stream gushed over one hand she spelled into the other the word water
2. The afternoon sun penetrated the mass of honeysuckle that covered the porch, and fell on my upturned face.
3.My fingers lingered almost unconsciously on the familiar leaves and blossoms which had just come forth to greet the sweet southern spring
6. How can a narrative be more engaging than something like a biography? Why is it important to get someone's personal perspective?
A narrative can give you their opinions in more detail. It puts the reader in their shoes and makes you feel as if you are there right next to Helen Keller experiencing these things.
7. Make a bulltted lists of some things you could write a narrative about
My companys dance concert (warming up)
an exciting swim meet
getting a puppy
coming to high school
auditoning for OSU dance program
riding the top thrill dragster
